RPC Manassas has supported the poor in Mississippi since former Pastor Edwin Elliott and his wife, Anne, lived in Water Valley over 40 years ago. When Edwin and Anne were expecting their first child, Anne became very ill and a local woman, Louise Minor, nursed mom and baby to health. Louise was a gift from God, a woman who was strong in faith and wisdom, and a blessing to her community. Louise knew who could use a new coat, Christmas presents for the children, a pair of pants for work, etc. When the Elliotts moved north to serve the Reformed Church here in Manassas, they kept in touch with Louise and sent what they could every Christmas. For many years our church collected clothes, toys, and books at Christmas and shipped them off to rural Mississippi. When the cost of shipping began to exceed the cost of the goods sent, we began sending money instead. Our church donates to Mississippi throughout the year including a special gift around Christmas from donations collected at the annual Manassas Christmas Parade. Louise's daughter Barbara has continued the ministry, administering gifts and God's encouragement in her locality. |

As a Christ-centered ministry, Life First upholds the God-given value of life by reaching out to those in unplanned pregnancies, providing free ultrasound, tangible help, and good news about Jesus Christ; teaching abstinence; and offering spiritual healing from the effects of abortion. The Gideons International - “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations”… Matthew 28:19 The Gideons International is an Association of Christian business and professional men and their wives dedicated to telling people about Jesus through associating together for service, sharing personal testimony, and by providing Bibles and New Testaments. While we are often recognized for our work with hotels, we also place and distribute Scriptures in strategic locations so they are available to those who want them, as well as to those who may not know they need them. You may donate here to the Gideons. |
Trail Life Troop VA-1914 - "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God"...Colossians1:10 Trail Life is a church-based, Christ-centered, boy-focused mentoring and discipleship journey that speaks to the heart of a boy. Established on the timeless values derived from the Bible, and set in the context of outdoor adventure, boys from Kindergarten through 12th grade are engaged in a troop setting by male mentors where they are challenged to grow in character, understand their purpose, serve their community, and develop practical leadership skills to carry out the missions for which they were created. Trail Life Troop VA-1914 was founded at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in 2015 and was re-chartered at Manassas Baptist Church in 2021. This transition was enthusiastically backed by both churches as the facilities at Manassas Baptist are better suited to accommodate the growth in the troop since its founding. |
